Start an automation when a customer joins a community

Learn how to automatically start an automation whenever a customer joins one of your communities.

When building automations, you can choose what should trigger them. A common trigger is when someone joins one of your communities, making it easy to send welcome emails, onboarding sequences, or other follow up content automatically.

In this guide, we'll walk you through the steps to automatically start an automation when a customer joins a community.

Add a trigger

Select your automation

For this guide, we'll use an existing automation as an example.

If you'd rather create a new one, follow the guide Create your first automation.

Click Add Trigger

Inside your automation, click Add Trigger.

This is where you choose what should start your automation.

Select Community enrollment

From the list of available triggers, select Community enrollment.

This means the automation will start as soon as a customer enrolls in the selected product.

Select a community

Choose the community that should trigger the automation.

Whenever a customer joins this community, the automation will start automatically.

Select a price (Optional)

Choose a specific price if you only want the automation to start for customers who join through that price.

If you leave this field empty, the automation will start regardless of which price the customer uses to join the community.

Click Save

Once you've selected your contact list, click Save in the top right corner.

Your changes will be saved immediately.

Your trigger has been added

Your automation is now configured to start automatically whenever a new contact joins the selected contact list.
